Tips for Getting Started

Edited

If you’re new to Trustworthy or looking for helpful tips, this article will guide you through strategies for getting started and setting up your account for success.

General Tips for an Easy Start.

  1. Connect your email. Connect your Gmail account to Trustworthy to automatically find and import important documents directly from your email attachments. This feature saves you from manually searching and uploading files. Once connected, Trustworthy will start to process and organize your attachments.

  2. Try drag and drop. Click and drag one or more files directly onto the Home screen of the Trustworthy dashboard. Release the mouse button to drop the files. Watch as files begin uploading and processing immediately.

  3. Add your family members – at least the adults. As you add family members in the Family category, reminders will be generated for important moments like birthdays. To-do’s will populate revolving around getting their information into the system. You can invite family members as collaborators to fulfill those tasks themselves --and remove some of the stress on you. We highly suggest you add basic information like identification, and emergency instructions.

  4. Add important contacts: You should add at least one emergency contact to your Trustworthy account. In addition, you’ll want to add contacts like Caretakers, Lawyers, Wealth Advisors, etc. Once they exist in your contacts, it becomes easier to build a cohesive system of information in Trustworthy. You can connect contacts to items in Trustworthy, such as adding “owners” to a specific property, “tax payers” to a return or

  5. Invite collaborators early: Consider adding collaborators who can help you as soon as you purchase your account. You can give other people full or partial access to the information in your account, narrowing their focus to just where you need help. You have complete control over what they see and don’t see.

  6. Consider your goal: Our users have different reasons for deciding to move to digital organization. Some have started new families or are preparing for children to go to college. Others are organizing finance information for retirement and others are preparing for end of life scenarios. Therefore, they may choose to begin in different categories and uploading different documents. There’s no wrong place to start and once you get started it gets easier as you go.

  7. Work Trustworthy into your routine. Scan receipts with mobile and save your unique Trustworthy Inbox address to your contacts for easy forwarding. (Email to Inbox) Consider adding key stakeholders, like family members who help with your affairs, caregivers and advisors.

Tips for Moving from Another Digital Space to Trustworthy

Trustworthy doesn’t (yet) have direct integrations with apps like Google drive, Dropbox, or One Drive. You can move files between apps on iOS mobile but if you are on desktop or using the Android app, you’ll have to download your files from the current program you’re using and put them in your Trustworthy account.

If your current storage allows you to download your information, you can upload the individual documents or a folder of documents to Trustworthy.

Note: A folder of documents will show up as individual files when it's dropped into your Trustworthy inbox.

Tips for Moving from Physical Storage to Trustworthy

You may be replacing your physical system or supplementing it. Her are some tips for making that move.

  1. Start with your most sensitive documents first. In the event of an emergency, like a flood or fire, you’d want printable copies available in Trustworthy. Things like insurance, medical records, identification and your will – as well as instructions for natural disasters are some of the things you might prioritize. You may also want to document your valuables for insurance claims.

  2. Then, upload what’s most urgent. If you subscribed to Trustworthy in order to prepare for a particular life moment, like buying a new home, you may want to begin uploading those documents first so they are safe and shareable throughout the processes you’ll be starting.

  3. Update physical copies if needed, and scan clearer copies once you have them to improve readability and usefulness.

Above All Else

  1. Consider Help: If you have a large amount to organize, or you are under time constraints we highly recommend inviting help. Check out our Trustworthy Certified Experts if you need an extra hand.

  2. Have Patience: If you’re working with a lot of information, don’t feel pressured to put it all into the proper categories at once. You can either – drop everything in the inbox and move the files piece by piece, or upload only what you wish to organize during that particular working session.

  3. Organization is a Lifestyle: Creating good practices as soon as possible makes organization easy in the long run. Get into the habit of uploading items as you get them, so you have less instances where you’re doing bulk organizations.

Give yourself grace and support! Organization is a challenge for many people but deciding to securely store your most important documents is a positive step in the right direction. If you have more questions on how to get started, feel free to email us at support@trustworthy.com.
