Connections: Link Everything That Belongs Together

Edited

Most tools make you file every piece of information in one place and one place only. Trustworthy works the way your family actually works: the things in your life are related, so Trustworthy lets you connect them. Connections let you link any page to the other pages it relates to, without having to decide on a single "correct" folder for each one.

Instead of asking "where does this belong?", you can simply say how things relate. Your house in Property can be connected to the password for the garage door, the bank account that pays the mortgage, and the contacts who handle your landscaping and electricity. Your dog's page in Family can be connected to his care instructions and his veterinarian. Each page still lives in its home category, but its connections give you the full picture of how everything fits together.

Connections Trustworthy Suggests for You

You don't have to build all of this yourself. As Trustworthy organizes your uploads, it suggests connections for you—when something you add clearly relates to something you already have, Trustworthy proposes linking them.

You'll spot a suggestion by its green + icon; click the + to approve it and the connection is added.

You will often find suggested connections waiting for you, and you're always free to add your own as well.

What You Can Connect

You can connect almost any page in your account to any other, across every category. A few examples of the kinds of connections families create:

  • A home connected to its mortgage account, homeowners insurance policy, the garage-door password, and the contacts for landscaping, electrical, and cleaning services.

  • A vehicle connected to its auto insurance policy, auto loan, and the contact for your repair shop.

  • A family member connected to their bank accounts and the contacts for their doctor and their school.

  • A pet connected to their care instructions and their veterinarian's contact.

Because a connection simply links two pages, the same page can be connected to as many others as you like. Nothing is duplicated and nothing is moved out of its category.

Add a Connection

You can add a connection from any page in a few clicks:

  1. Open the page you want to connect from (for example, your home in Property).

  2. Scroll to the Connections section and click Add.

  3. In the search box, start typing the name of the page you want to link to. Trustworthy also suggests recently viewed pages.

  4. Select the page from the results. The connection is added right away and appears in the page's Connections section.

Where to Find Connections

A connection can show up in two places on a page, depending on how the two things relate:

  • In the Connections section—a dedicated list of the other pages this page links to.

  • Within the page's Details—some key relationships appear right alongside the page's other information. On a pet's page, for example, its owners and its home address appear under Details.

In most cases a connection appears on both pages you've linked, so you can find it from either one. Connections work the same way in the Trustworthy web app and the mobile app.

Remove a Connection

To remove a connection, open the page where you can see the connection, find the item in the Connections section, and choose to delete the connection. Removing a connection only unlinks the two pages—neither page and none of its files are deleted.
